Meet our boer goats
Our Boer Goats joined us at Attwell Farm Park in 2021, and theyโve quickly become an adored part of the farm. Known for their sturdy build and friendly temperament, these goats are a firm favorite with visitors! Boer goats are very sociable animals and love to interact with people. They can be found in the paddocks during the warmer months, happily grazing or playing with each other. Visitors often enjoy feeding them, and our Boer goats love a good cuddle too! They have such a relaxed and gentle nature, making them perfect for interacting with children and families.
๐ก Winter Months โ During the colder months, our Boer goats are brought into the Animal Barn, where they can stay warm and comfortable. You can still see them up close and enjoy their company.
๐ฟ Summer Months โ As soon as the weather warms up, our Boer goats are back out in their paddocks, roaming and grazing around the Paddock Walk, where visitors can enjoy watching them play.
๐ Originating from South Africa โ Boer goats come from South Africa and were originally bred for meat production. They are known for their hardiness and ability to thrive in harsh climates.
๐ Big, Strong Goats โ Boer goats are larger and heavier than most goat breeds. They have muscular bodies and can weigh up to 90 kg (200 lbs) at maturity!
๐ Friendly and Sociable โ Boer goats are incredibly sociable animals. They are affectionate and love to interact with people, making them perfect for farm visits.
๐ Great for Grazing โ Boer goats are known for being excellent grazers. Theyโll happily munch on grass, leaves, and shrubs, helping to keep their paddocks tidy.
๐ Fun-Loving and Playful โ These goats are full of energy! Whether itโs head-butting, jumping, or simply running around, Boer goats love to play with each other and their visitors.
