Shetland Ponies

We have 2 shetland ponies here at the Farm Park. Our 2 shetland ponies are called Ziggy and William. Ziggy is grey in colour and William is a blonde colour which is known as palomino.

We have 2 shetland ponies here at the Farm Park. Our 2 shetland ponies are called Ziggy and William. Ziggy is grey in colour and William is a blonde colour which is known as palomino. Ziggy is a very loving pony who loves cuddle from the staff and likes plenty of attention. William is more reserved and can take a while to trust people but he loves to have his mane and tail brushed.

The shetland ponies eat hay which is given to the every morning and evening in haynets. They also enjoy eating grass when they are turned out into the paddocks in the warmer months where they also enjoy having a gallop round. It is important that the shetland ponies are brushed regularly to keep their coats clean and healthy.

Fun Facts:

Horses eyes are in the sides of their head and so they are able to seem nearly 360 degrees at one time.

Shetland ponies originate from the Shetland Isles in Scotland and have been there for over 2000 years.

Shetland ponies are between 34 and 42 inches in height.
