Meet our lovely Llamas!

Meet our lovely Llamas!

Llamas have been a part of Attwell Farm Park since the very first day we opened in 2017! In fact, we had a huge surprise on opening day—one of our llamas gave birth, and we had no idea she was pregnant! Since then, our llamas have become a much-loved part of the farm, known for their gentle nature and quirky personalities. Whether they’re curiously watching visitors or happily grazing, they always make an impression!

Where Can You See Them?

🏡 Winter Months – During the colder months, our llamas stay warm and dry in the Animal Barn, where they have plenty of space to stretch their legs and interact with visitors.

🌿 Summer Months – When the sun is shining, our llamas head out to the paddocks along the Paddock Walk, where they love to roam and graze. You’ll often spot them standing tall, watching over the farm like fluffy guardians!

🤗 Friendly & Curious – Our llamas may be a little shy at first, but they quickly warm up to visitors, especially if you spend a little time with them.

Fun Facts About Llamas! 🦙

🦙 No Spitting… (Usually!) – Llamas can spit, but they mostly do it at each other to establish their pecking order. They rarely spit at humans unless they feel really threatened!

🦙 Excellent Guard Animals! – In some parts of the world, llamas are used to guard sheep and other livestock because they instinctively chase away predators.

🦙 Built for the Mountains! – Llamas come from the Andes Mountains in South America, where they’ve been used as pack animals for centuries.

🦙 Super Soft Wool! – Their fleece is incredibly soft, hypoallergenic, and warmer than sheep’s wool.

🦙 Humming Llamas! – Llamas communicate by making a soft humming noise, especially when they’re feeling relaxed or talking to their babies (called crias).

🦙 They’re Related to Camels! – Llamas are part of the camelid family, which means they’re distant cousins of camels—but without the humps!

Next time you visit Attwell Farm Park, be sure to say hello to our amazing llamas—they might just hum a greeting back at you! 🦙❤️
