Meet Harry, one of our beloved donkeys and the proud father of Monty.
Meet Harry the donkey, born on September 9, 2015. Harry arrived at the farm with his companion Joy in October 2017, and the two have been inseparable ever since. They’ve always lived together, even before joining us at the farm park. Harry is the proud sire (father) to Monty, one of our other donkeys. Harry is a charming Jack – the term for a male donkey – known for his affectionate nature. He loves to snuggle up with our staff and is always up for a good cuddle. His friendly demeanor makes him a favourite among visitors and staff alike. Like all our donkeys, Harry enjoys a nutritious mix of hay and straw, which he eagerly munches on every morning and evening. If you happen to be around at feeding time, you’ll likely hear Harry's Eeyore-like braying – he’s not shy about letting everyone know he’s excited for his meal! Donkeys are incredibly sociable, and Harry loves interacting and playing with his friends. Whether he’s enjoying time with his fellow donkeys or snuggling with our team, Harry is always the life of the party.
🔎During the winter, you can find Harry stabled in the animal barn alongside Joy and Monty, where they have access to the cozy woodchip turnout area. In the summer, they enjoy the paddocks, and you can often spot them while walking around the outdoor paddock trail.
🐴 Incredible Memory – Donkeys have an amazing memory and can remember locations, people, and other animals for years. Once they form a bond, it lasts a lifetime!
🐴 Social Creatures – Donkeys are very sociable and prefer to be around other donkeys or animals. They form strong bonds with their companions, which is why Harry, Joy, and Monty are such a close-knit group.
🐴 Great at Carrying Loads – Historically, donkeys have been used as pack animals because of their strong backs and stamina. They’re well-suited to carrying heavy loads over long distances.
🐴 Long Lifespan – Donkeys can live between 25 and 40 years, making them lifelong companions for their owners.
