Meet Harry the Donkey

Welcome to Attwell Farm Park! Meet Harry, one of our beloved donkeys and the proud father of Monty. Harry is a charming Jack, which is the term for a male donkey. Known for his friendly nature, Harry loves to snuggle with our staff and is always up for a good cuddle.

Harry's Diet and Daily Routine

Harry and his donkey friends enjoy a nutritious mix of hay and straw, which they eagerly munch on from their haynets every morning and evening. If you’re around during feeding time, you’ll likely hear Harry braying loudly – he loves his food and isn’t shy about letting everyone know!

It’s important for Harry to stay hydrated, so we ensure he always has access to fresh water. During the day, Harry and the other donkeys can be found in their woodchip turnout area, where they love to run around and roll in the woodchips. Donkeys are very sociable creatures, so you’ll often see Harry interacting and playing with his friends over the fences.

Fun Facts About Donkeys

  • Donkeys are measured in hands, from the bottom of their hooves to their withers. They can range in height from 7.3 hands high (hh) to 15.3hh.

  • Donkeys can live for over 50 years, making them long-term companions.

  • Unlike many animals, donkeys' coats are not waterproof. Harry, like all donkeys, prefers to stay out of the rain and keep dry whenever possible.
