Baby Chicks

Step into our Hatchery Area in the Petting Barn, where you’ll find our adorable baby chicks and seasonal ducklings! We hatch our own eggs from over five different breeds of chickens and ducks, giving visitors the chance to witness the incredible life cycle of a chick.

In this special area, you’ll see our incubator, where eggs are carefully kept warm until they’re ready to hatch. Surrounding the incubator are small pens displaying chicks at different growth stages. Visitors often get lucky enough to see a chick break free from its shell right before their eyes! It’s a truly magical experience and one of the most loved attractions at our farm.

Fun Facts About Baby Chicks & Hatching! 🐥

🐣 Chicks talk before they hatch! – Inside the egg, a chick starts chirping a day or two before hatching to communicate with its mother and siblings.

🐣 Eggs need just the right conditions – Our incubator keeps eggs at a steady temperature of 37.5°C (99.5°F) with perfect humidity to help the chicks develop.

🐣 The ‘egg tooth’ helps them hatch – Chicks use a tiny, temporary bump on their beak called an egg tooth to crack open the shell. It falls off a few days after hatching.

🐣 Chicks grow fast! – A newly hatched chick doubles in size within its first week and starts growing feathers in just a few days.

🐣 They recognize their caregivers – Chicks imprint on the first things they see after hatching, which is often their mother—or their human caretakers!

🐣 Chicks can walk and peck straight away – Unlike some baby animals, chicks are born ready to explore and, within hours of hatching, are already walking, eating, and drinking on their own.

Visitors love watching the hatching process, and if you're lucky, you might just witness a brand-new chick making its grand entrance into the world! 🐣✨
