Our farm park has 17 acres of land where our beloved farm animals have mixed use of indoor and outdoor spaces, and you can even handle some of our smaller animals in our pettings barn’s animal handling area.

Children’s Farm Park In Redditch, Worcestershire

Redditch, Worcestershire is home to our Children’s Farm Park. The farm was founded in 1962 by Mike Attwell. Farmer Mike started out by selling eggs door to door in the local villages around Beoley with just a handful of chickens. Fast forward 60 years and Attwell Farm is now one of the best Children's Farm Parks in the country with an indoor and outdoor petting zoo and small animal handling station where you can pick up, hold, pet, and feed some of our smaller animals. Our petting zoo and animal handling station are suitable for children of all ages.

What Animals Are At The Petting Zoo?

Our petting zoo has over 30 different species of animals for you to pet and feed. From Aberdeen Angus Cattle and Alpacas to Pygmy Goats and Valais Blacknose Sheep, we've listed all of our animals below for you to explore along with some interesting facts to quiz your friends and family about!

Aberdeen Angus Cattle

Aberdeen Angus cattle are a Scottish breed that are red to black-brown and have a distinctive hump on their shoulders. They are a polled breed, meaning that they do not have horns. Aberdeen Angus cattle are well-adapted to cold climates and they sleep well at night although they only like to sleep for 4 hours at a time!

Alpacas

Alpacas are native to the Andes Mountains of South America and were imported to the United States in the 1980s. Alpacas are gentle animals that make good pets and are known for their soft wool. Alpacas are also known for their propensity to sleep. They sleep an average of 14 hours per day!

Chickens

Chickens are kept by humans around the world. The males and females of the species are both important, but in different ways. The females, or hens, are kept for their eggs. Hens lay one egg per day on average, and can lay over 300 eggs a year! Chickens hatched from eggs laid by hens are called chicks. The male chickens, or cocks, grow to be larger than hens, and they have a different taste than hens. We also have Serama Chickens that are a miniature breed of chicken that is known for its small size and friendly personality. They weigh in at just 1-2 pounds and stand only 10-12 inches tall, making them the perfect backyard chicken! Serama Chickens are calm and docile and make great pets. They are prolific layers of small eggs, and are also good foragers.

Donkeys

Donkeys are intelligent and learn quickly. They are often used as pack animals because they can carry a load without becoming tired. Donkeys are also used as guard animals because they will bray loudly when they see or smell something unusual.

Ducks

Emu

Baby Chicks

Baby chicks need to be fed chick starter food for the first eight weeks. They also need fresh water and grit (a mineral that helps them digest food). Baby chicks grow very fast. In just eight weeks, they will be ready to go outside and live on their own.

Guinea Pigs
